Piano Policy

PIANO POLICY

CALENDAR

  • Piano Lessons are an hour and meet weekly, unless otherwise stated on the Academy calendar accessible via the Student Portal.

  • Number of lessons varies each month based on studio closures for holidays, school breaks, etc. Students are responsible for keeping up with the calendar for the year which can always be viewed, in full, via the Student Portal. Lessons are never prorated.

  • Students can switch lesson days/times mid-year, but only as availability allows. We suggest giving at least 30-days notice to switch lesson times to allow for the most options.

TUITION

  • Piano lessons are $165/month (or Performer Pass $310/month for Musical Theatre + GLEE or Piano) + 3.13% Stripe processing fee and includes weekly lessons and include a variety of Academy perks!

  • Enrolling in lessons requires prepayment for the first month of tuition, auto-drafted from the card on file. After this first prepayment, tuition is then auto-drafted on the 1st of every subsequent month. All payments are non-refundable. A late fee is automatically assessed to any outstanding invoices on the 7th of the month. Students are responsible for keeping payment info up-to-date on the Student Portal.

  • After the first prepayment, tuition is due in full on the 1st of each month regardless of the number of lessons attended. Lessons are never prorated.

  • While we would be sad to see any student go, if you need to discontinue lessons, we require a minimum of 30 days notice via a completed Termination of Lessons Form.  Students are responsible for paying for tuition during their final month of lessons whether they attend lessons or not. No refunds are available once tuition is paid.

MISSED LESSONS/MAKEUPS

  • Consistency is important when learning a new skill like music so we ask that you make every effort to attend each lesson with all piano books and music.

  • To make the most out of your lessons, please plan to arrive on time. Instructors will assume any student who is more than 15 minutes late to a lesson, will not be attending and therefore forfeits their lesson for that day.

  • Makeup credits are attendance credits (not monetary) and can only be used while students are currently enrolled. Makeup credits are assigned to students’ accounts who cancel their lessons via the Student Portal (email cancellations will not be accepted), with at least 24 hours notice. Makeup lessons are never guaranteed, various opportunities are available only as student cancellations occur and can be claimed first come first served via email. Makeup credits can be used year-round and are reset every August.

  • If you know you will be missing your lesson, please mark yourself absent via the student portal to keep our instructors up to speed and allow another student to claim your lesson slot for the week.

CONDUCT

  • We enjoy having fun with our accelerated approach to learning piano! Students however, with repeated behaviour issues that become disruptive in lessons, may not be well suited for our accelerated lab environment and may be asked to leave the program at the instructor’s discretion.
